Volunteer Tutor Referral Scheme

Action Tutoring are delighted to announce the introduction of our Volunteer Tutor Referral Scheme!

People trust their friends, family, and colleagues more than they’ll trust most marketing channels. We’re proud that so many of our volunteer tutor applications come through word of mouth. Now we want to reward our wonderful tutors who recommend us.

We are always looking for dedicated volunteer tutors who want to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged pupils.

If you successfully refer someone you know, your name will be entered into a draw (which will be drawn every three months) – the more people you refer, the more chances you have at winning!

Why refer us to your friends and family?

Our charity is proud to have a diverse pool of dedicated volunteers, from a variety of different backgrounds who bring a wealth of expertise. We’d love to hear from anyone who feels they can make a difference!

Action Tutoring provides a friendly and supportive environment, enabling genuine, engaging conversations with people who share similar interests.

✅ An Action Tutoring Programme Coordinator oversees the delivery of each session. If you think your friend has the right skills or qualifications to be an English or maths tutor but lacks experience, our team is here to support them every step of the way.

✅ Tutoring requires volunteers to be patient, empathetic and communicative. Does this sound like someone you know? Or do you have friends or family members that could benefit from building on these qualities? Volunteering with Action Tutoring is a great way to develop and put your skills to the test, all while benefiting pupils who really need the extra support!

✅ If your friends, family members or colleagues have a busy schedule, there is the option to join an online tutoring programme. Online tutoring allows us tutors from outside of our in-school regions to get involved, further diversifying our pool of volunteers to inspire the young people we support.

How does the tutor referral work?

If you recommend a friend, colleague or family member, ask them to select “word of mouth” in the “How did you hear about us?” part of the application form. A field will then appear in which they can enter your name.

Each time your name is entered, it will be put into a draw which will be drawn every three months (October, January, April and July). The more friends you recommend, the more chance there is of winning!

What rewards can I earn?

Winners receive a £50 One4All gift card, which can be used across multiple retailers and food outlets in the UK.

Is there a limit to how many friends I can refer to or the rewards I can earn?

The more applicants have entered your name as a referral, the higher the chance of winning.

How will I receive my gift card?

If you are the winner, we’ll email you with the voucher and a request for permission to announce your name on social media.

What if a friend applies but forgets to mention my name?

Please be sure to let your friends know that mentioning your name on the application is essential. This is the only way for us to track the referrals we receive and be fair to all our volunteers.

What other regions does Action Tutoring operate in?

Details of where in-school opportunities are located can be found on our Our Reach page. Online tutors can volunteer from anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales.

Great change comes from the efforts of one person at a time! With your help, we can ensure more and more pupils can receive the education they deserve.

Are you ready to spread the word?
