Dominique Orlans

Pronouns: she/her

Dominique joined Action Tutoring in 2021 as Programme Coordinator for Birmingham.

Dominique is responsible for overseeing a caseload of partner schools in Birmingham, liaising and working closely with the schools and pupils as well as managing our pool of volunteer tutors.

Dominique was born in Bath and lived there until she went to University in Aberystwyth, where she studied Drama and Theatre. After she graduated, she wanted to live abroad for a year, so moved to Italy and lived with a family, while teaching English lessons to adults and children.

After moving to Birmingham, Dominique got a job at an accounting firm but wasn’t feeling fulfilled, so started volunteering for charities. This then became a bit of an obsession and she was volunteering for multiple charities throughout the week. After volunteering for a year, she decided to change her career path to work in the charity sector.

In terms of hobbies and interests, Dominique loves to sing and act and LOVES to cook. She really enjoys experimenting with cooking, especially vegan food as it makes it that little bit more challenging.

Dominique also started painting during the first lockdown and this has become a real passion of hers, as well as lots of sport and activity. A long weekend camping, hiking, kayaking, cycling and pubbing is her idea of a great weekend!
