Whilst reading English Literature at the University of Surrey, Isabelle began tutoring English, primarily working with young adults with special educational needs. After finding tutoring so rewarding, she enrolled on the Teach First programme and taught in Croydon for two years.
Isabelle then went on to teach in Tower Hamlets for three years; a borough with one of the highest rates of child poverty in the UK. She has a particular interest in the transformative impact creative writing can have on young peoples’ lives, working alongside various charities and arts centres to publish anthologies of student poetry.
Isabelle currently teaches English in Cambridgeshire. She is passionate about addressing educational disadvantage through impactful English teaching and hopes to create lifelong readers. She is committed to working alongside Action to create a highly effective, relevant and engaging English curriculum.
