Naomi Falgate

Naomi joined Action Tutoring in May 2022 as the Fundraising Coordinator.

In her role, Naomi supports a range of fundraising activities, most predominantly researching new avenues for funding, completing grant applications, carrying out communications and reporting to existing funders.

 

Naomi is a keen linguist and performer, graduating from the University of Birmingham with a degree in French and Theatre in 2012. During her studies, Naomi was eager to dedicate time towards helping young people achieve academically and improve their prospects. She worked with Aim higher as a tutor for local secondary school pupils and also volunteered in two Bulgarian orphanages with the university’s InterVol Society. Naomi thoroughly enjoyed two summers working as a group leader with the Social Mobility Foundation, which provided high-achieving teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds with valuable work experience in London.

Her Erasmus exchange year in France ignited a passion for exploring other cultures and countries and since graduating she has lived and worked in France and Spain. Naomi has dedicated over a decade to the education sector, working as a French and English teacher, module coordinator and examiner as well as a French-speaking tour guide! Naomi believes that the key to academic success comes from building confidence and a “can-do” approach and therefore is passionate about making learning as enjoyable and accessible as possible. In her free time Naomi loves performing and worked as a professional jazz singer in Spain for three years. She also loves hiking and going on adventureswith her little fox terrier!

Naomi is extremely excited to join the Action Tutoring team and put her varied professional experiences towards providing fair access to education for all and improving the ambition s of the young people we work with.
