Phoebe Young

Phoebe joined Action Tutoring in January 2021 as Programme Coordinator for London.

Phoebe is responsible for overseeing a caseload of partner schools in London, liaising and working closely with the schools and pupils as well as managing our pool of volunteer tutors.

Prior to Action Tutoring, Phoebe studied English Literature and French at the University of Warwick, with a year abroad working as an English Language Assistant in France.

As a student, she volunteered as a reading assistant at her local primary school, spent a summer teaching English and Maths at a Ghanaian secondary school, and worked for a youth programme focused on social action and inclusion. It was these experiences that secured her firm belief in the importance of education and the power of volunteers to drive change and bring together a community.

Having been a tutor herself, she has witnessed first-hand the impact of providing a child with the skills and confidence to reach their potential and she is very proud to be part of a charity that works towards closing the attainment gap and supporting those who need it most.
