Valerie Gatonye

Pronouns: she/her

Valerie joined Action Tutoring in August 2020 as a Programme Coordinator for London.

Valerie is responsible for overseeing a caseload of partner schools in London, liaising and working closely with the schools and pupils as well as managing our pool of volunteer tutors.

While studying Politics and Economics at the University of East Anglia, she also spent some time tutoring GCSE maths and English with a small grassroots organisation in Norwich. She was able to see, first hand, the impact that tuition had on the attainment of the pupils that she worked with.

After University, Valerie spent some time working in the Civil Service, in community development at the grassroots level, and teaching English as a second language.

She is excited to join Action Tutoring and is proud to help the charity in supporting young people in overcoming socio-economic barriers in order to fully realise their potential.
