Zoe Deuchar

Pronouns: she/her

Zoe joined Action Tutoring in October 2020 as a Programme Coordinator for Bristol, before moving to the position of Communications Administrator in August 2021.

Zoe’s role involves communicating Action Tutoring’s key messages and needs to our volunteer community around the country. She works closely with the communications team to draft mass emails and texts and reaches out to our volunteers regularly, ensuring our tutors feel confident in whichever stage they’re at in their journey with us. She also makes sure our volunteer data is up to date to ensure each of our volunteers receives the information most relevant to them.

Zoe has worked professionally with young people from various backgrounds for over 5 years, including teaching English as a foreign language in India, coordinating after school clubs, and working to advocate for young people involved with social services. While working at an after-school club, Zoe studied Anthropology and International Development at the University of Sussex, where she learnt about the complexities of inequality.

In her spare time, Zoe studies creative writing, practises her painting and, pre-Covid, loved being involved with the performing arts. She is also doing some advocacy work for young people involved with social services. Zoe has been developing her mindfulness practices and hopes to incorporate that in all areas of her life.

Zoe is so excited to be able to apply everything she has experienced and learnt so far to deliver sustainable and effective support to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through educational avenues.
