Anita joined Action Tutoring as a trustee in early 2017. She has a background in primary education across the West Midlands; taking up her first teaching post in Dudley in 1981 and her first headship in Solihull in 1991.
Anita went on to lead two further primary schools as their headteacher before becoming a Director at HTI in 2007, where she managed and delivered the National College contracts NPQH, Leadership Pathways and Leading from the Middle. Anita was a Lead Facilitator for the National College and was part of the team at HTI who transitioned to NPQML, NPQSL and NPQH when the college (NCSL) became NCL. During this period Anita also led a team in the design and delivery of bespoke leadership packages for school staff at all levels, namely 3D@HTI.
Anita joined Teach First in January 2013 as the new Local Area Director, where she manages the West Midlands regional staff team, the Teach First participant teaching compliment, the ambassador network and the relationship with the university provider, Birmingham City University. Teach First places high caliber graduates into schools with high levels of disadvantage; believing firmly that a child’s educational success should not be limited by their socio-economic background. With a presence of ten years in the West Midlands, Teach First currently has a movement of 800 leaders who are aligned to this vision and who are working tirelessly to give all children access to an education that will raise their aspirations to achieve social mobility in line with their potential. Anita and her team are targeting placement across areas of greatest need in the region in order to maximize the impact of the charity.
