Doug has been based in South East London since 2004, near to the school where the pilot Action Tutoring programme was run in 2011 – when the organisation was known as Finishing Line. Doug volunteered on that pilot programme tutoring mathematics.
From 2011, Doug assisted the organisation as part of its advisory board until the organisation took up formal charitable status in March 2012, as Action Tutoring. Doug subsequently served as Chair of Trustees for Action Tutoring from 2012 to September 2015 and now continues to be
actively involved in Action Tutoring as a member of its Board of Trustees.
Doug spent a number of his formative years travelling and working in different parts of the world – from Australia to Uganda (East Africa) and latterly Japan and South East Asia – where he taught English.
Doug read Chemistry at Leeds University, graduating in 2002, and went on to train as a solicitor. Doug is currently employed as dispute resolution solicitor specialising in commercial, insurance and construction litigation.
