Secondary schools
For over 13 years, Action Tutoring has been empowering young people to succeed. We provide high-quality, evidence-based tutoring to pupils facing disadvantage in Year 7, Year 10 and Year 11, helping to close the attainment gap and improve GCSE outcomes.
We are thrilled to have been awarded the ‘School Partnership Provider 2025’ in the National Tutoring Awards, in recognition of our impactful, high-quality offer to primary and secondary state schools across the country.

With over 30,000 pupils supported to date, we support schools in England by delivering tailored academic support that makes a measurable impact.
We understand the challenges schools face in supporting disadvantaged pupils to achieve their full potential. Action Tutoring provides a proven, cost-effective solution that complements your existing provision, equipping pupils with the skills and confidence they need to excel.
Evidence-based impact
Our impact speaks for itself. Pupils who complete our programme see significantly improved maths and English results.
In 2025, disadvantaged pupils receiving at least 10 sessions with us were:
- 10% more likely to pass their English GCSE
- 13% more likely to pass maths than their disadvantaged peers.

Affordable and low workload
We know budgets are stretched. That’s why our model is designed to be affordable and low workload for schools. Thanks to funding support, we offer heavily subsidised tutoring, making high-quality tuition accessible to the pupils who need it most.
How does it work? Our trained volunteer tutors deliver weekly small-group sessions, either in-person or online, directly on your school site. Schools select pupils who will benefit most, and our programme coordinators manage all logistics, ensuring a seamless, hassle-free experience for teachers and staff.

Secondary school teachers recommend us
We work in close partnership with schools, and our impact is recognised. 9 out of 10 teachers we worked with in 2024-25 recommend Action Tutoring, citing the improved confidence, attainment, and engagement they see in their pupils.
Action Tutoring is a really great organisation, in fact I often recommend it to other schools! It’s a charity that can deliver reliable and expert tutors at scale. Exactly the right kind of people who can help our children and who they respond well to. Asking pupils to stay behind school when their friends are going home isn’t easy but the fact they do so willingly and commit to the session shows how much they value it.
I often look around our sixth form and know there are pupils that would not have got there without Action Tutoring. Some of them are now looking at university as their next step.
