Pronouns: she/her

Aimee joined Action Tutoring in December 2019 as Programme Coordinator for Sussex.

Aimee is responsible for overseeing a caseload of partner schools in Sussex, liaising and working closely with the schools and pupils as well as managing our pool of volunteer tutors.

I was drawn to working at Action Tutoring because I wanted to be part of an organisation working to close the attainment gap between pupils facing disadvantage and their peers. From my background in teaching, I know that tutoring really works to improve attainment, confidence and study skills, but not all pupils are able to access it. I could see that the work of Action Tutoring is an essential part in bridging that gap and I immediately wanted to get involved.

Something I enjoy about my role is seeing a pupil who usually finds it difficult to focus in a classroom environment really thriving in their tutoring session. It’s lovely to see their focus, effort and determination building in each session with their tutor. They always leave the session feeling positive and with a sense of achievement.
