Kalpana is responsible for overseeing a caseload of partner schools in Birmingham, liaising and working closely with the schools and pupils as well as managing our pool of volunteer tutors.

Having previously taught in primary schools across Leicestershire and Birmingham, I was drawn to Action Tutoring by its commitment to narrowing the education gap and providing meaningful support to young people who need it most. The opportunity to combine my passion for education with such a good cause, inspired me to get involved.

I really enjoy the variety in my role — no two days are the same, and I love being able to collaborate with schools, volunteers and colleagues to make a real impact. Working alongside a passionate and supportive team, who are dedicated to educational equity makes my role both fulfilling and inspiring.

I’m looking forward to seeing Action Tutoring continue to grow and secure more funding, so it can keep doing the amazing work it’s already doing and expand to support even more pupils across the country.
