Sam Crampton

Pronouns: she/her

Sam joined Action Tutoring in December 2020 as Programme Coordinator for Newcastle.

Sam is responsible for overseeing a caseload of partner schools in Newcastle and County Durham , liaising and working closely with the schools and pupils as well as managing our pool of volunteer tutors.

She has slowly moved northwards, growing up in Devon, studying for a BSc in Evolutionary Anthropology in Liverpool and then a PGDip in Museum Studies at Newcastle University. She has lived in the North East since 2012.

For the last decade Sam has worked in museums and heritage sites across the region, sharing knowledge in informal settings, and working with volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds. She quickly found the most enjoyable and satisfying part of her work was with people and local communities.

As the first person in her family to attend university Sam is a strong believer in the importance of educational equality, and the strong impact supporting this can have on young people’s lives.
